    MA, LLC

Jason Winchester is a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor (LLC). He has a Masters of Art Degree in Counseling from Oakland University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Eastern Michigan University.

Jason was an Elementary and Middle School Teacher, as well as a Middle School Counselor for Utica Community Schools. He has extensive experience with children and teens, which he would say is his expertise and highest comfort level. With over 25 years of experience, he loved his time with UCS and coached several sports there as well.

Jason would describe his counseling style as a combination of a Client-Centered Approach mixed with Psychodynamic Therapy and at times CBT. Of course, he believes that the client needs will direct what type of therapy works well to create the best version of oneself. Jason believes play therapy is an integral part of child therapy that helps the child open up to the healing process. He works with clients that are dealing with anxiety, depression, grief, individual and couple counseling, as well as groups. Practicing empathy is a big part of his counseling personality.

Jason was a college baseball player and sports are a huge part of his life. Eventually, Jason would like to add sports therapy to his resume through athlete positive visualization and meditation techniques to get maximum athletic potential. Life coaching is another part of his sessions he would like to incorporate when the client is ready to fully improve all aspects of their lives.

Jason is an avid golfer and has a daughter that is a college volleyball player pursuing elementary education.
