  • Kathleen McMahon

    Community Outreach Director

    MA, LPC

Kathleen McMahon received both her Master of Arts in Counseling and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Oakland University. She is certified as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Michigan. Kathleen began her experience within the mental health field in 2014 as she worked with a variety of ages and populations of individuals from young children (1-8), adolescents (9-12), teenagers (13-17), and adults (18-22). Applied experience was gained through, but not limited to, jobs including community living support for severely emotionally disturbed youth within the wraparound program, supportive therapy for autistic children, and working with clients within Oakland and Macomb counties during her practicum/interim for her degree in counseling.

Kathleen is passionate about helping others and meeting clients where they are at while providing guidance and an individualized approach. She strives to create a space where clients can facilitate their own growth and explore their life goals and values. As a lifelong learner, Kathleen aims to be an active passenger on her clients’ journey, allowing their personal intuition and wisdom to direct the ride. Being outside of her clients’ personal experiences, Kathleen helps as they sort through what is and is not working for them.

Kathleen enjoys working with a variety of needs and life experiences, especially those struggling with relationship/family issues, anxiety, depression, parenting, self-acceptance and identity issues, LGBTQ+ related issues, codependency, trauma, grief and loss, mood disorders, sexual concerns, and life transitions. She provides a safe space for clients to tell their story free of judgment, interruption, or “fixing.” Her empathic and genuine demeanor provides clients with that space to feel affirmed and ready to heal and grow.

Kathleen provides letter writing services for those seeking gender affirming surgery and gender affirming hormonal treatment
