    Mary Vang received a Masters of Arts in Counseling from Oakland University, and a Bachelor of Science in Counseling /Psychology from Toccoa Falls College with a minor in Youth Ministries. She has also obtained an advanced specialization in Child and Adolescent Counseling. Mary is a member of the American Christian Counseling Association and is a Nationally Board Certified Counselor. She has experience in both inpatient and outpatient treatment with children, adolescents and adults. Her experience has prepared her to work with individuals and groups from different backgrounds with a range of mental illnesses. She has worked in the human services and mental health field alongside other professionals that promote the therapeutic environment and recovery of clients.

    Mary utilizes several theoretical approaches which include Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectal Behavioral Therapy. Mary also believes in the healing and growth that comes from God and His Word. Counseling is a therapeutic process that helps clients develop awareness, discover strengths, and find fulfillment. The role of counselor is to help others to better help themselves. The general goal is to help clients identify problems, set obtainable goals, and create a plan of action. It is the role of the counselor to create a therapeutic environment to promote the client’s potential to finding healing and change.
