Dora Elliott

LCSW

The world has become an increasingly complex place to navigate these days. I am passionate about helping individuals, families and young people get through these challenging times together. I enjoy collaborating with schools and parents alike to best support children, teens, and young adults. I work with parents to help them to identify and set realistic, age-appropriate expectations for their child. I will aid parents in developing and implementing consistent parenting strategies, while simultaneously incorporating patience, a positive parenting approach and self-care. I particularly enjoy supporting teen girls and women; teaching coping skills for anxiety and depression, skills to strengthen interpersonal relationships, to build self-esteem, identify core values and ways to prioritize self-care, mindfulness, body positivity and overall wellness.

I am a clinical social worker with a LCSW. I have a diverse background working with families, children, teens, young adults & adults, both in the community and school setting for over 10 years. I have clinical experience providing individual, family and group therapy in community outpatient settings, both in person and virtually.

I am certified in Animal Assisted Therapy. I incorporate Nature, Walk and Talk therapy, somatic healing exercises, mindfulness, and nutrition awareness into my practice whenever possible and clinically appropriate.

I use an integrative approach of cognitive-behavioral therapy and mindfulness, while utilizing a trauma informed, family systems, multicultural, social justice lens. I have been trained in and utilize various skills from the following evidence-based practices: Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral therapy (TFCBT), Attachment- Based Family Therapy (ABFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy-Enhanced for Eating Disorders (CBT-E), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Parent Management Training -Strengthening Families Program curriculum.

I look forward to meeting you!
